U.S. Senate Democrats Push For $600 Weekly Unemployment Extension
July 6, 2020
Last Wednesday, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) introduced legislation that would extend the $600 weekly payments through March 2021 to laid-off workers.
Benefits would decrease by $100 once a state reaches an average of 11 percent unemployment rate over three months and continue to decrease by $100 per percentage point unemployment decrease until that rate drops below six percent.
