U.S. House Passes Six Spending Bills

On Friday, the U.S. House passed an minibus package covering six of the 12 spending bills. The $1.3 trillion bill includes hundreds of amendments that were approved by the House Thursday.

Most significantly $250 million is included each for weatherization and energy efficiency, $25 million for solar installations in low-income households and; $25 million to advance the development and use of plug-in electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The U.S. Senate has not passed any appropriations bills nor really begun work on its companion measures, and the Senate will not approve of the spending levels or many of the House provisions.

The Trump administration has already issued a veto threat for the House bill. Congress is more than likely to pass a continuing resolution (CR) to avoid a government shutdown in September.
