PPA Launches Energy Choice PA Campaign

PPA Launches Energy Choice PA Campaign to promote the benefits of an “all-of-the-above” approach to energy policy in Pennsylvania.

Most states across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic are pursuing electrification policies in one form or another. Some states are pursing Clean Heat Standards and Cap-and-Invest Programs. Others have focused on regulatory changes or building code “updates”. And others are toying with EV mandates.

In Pennsylvania, the current administration is considering major reform to the energy production sector and has committed to a multistate alliance for the purpose for the purpose of building decarbonization with a specific focus to quadruple heat pump installations by 2030. We can expect other similar policies to come up for consideration in the future.

PPA works tirelessly to stay ahead of these developments so that we can put our best solutions forward that benefit not just our members, but consumers at large. To ensure that our future is bright, it will be increasingly important that consumers are educated about these issues. We need our customers – and those who use other energy sources – to understand what electrification really means. To understand the economic impact of EV mandates and carbon taxes. And to recognize the strides that our industry has made in achieving broad carbon reduction.

Introducing the Energy Choice PA Campaign

This is why we’re so excited to announce the launch of the Energy Choice PA Campaign.

Energy Choice PA will be Pennsylvania’s vehicle for engaging with consumers about these critical issues. The foundation of the campaign is EnergyChoicePA.com, which you can check out here. Developed by our partners at Warm Thoughts Communications and guided by the PPA Board of Directors to oversee this effort, the new website is chock full of information and data that tells an incredibly compelling story about our industries and about the challenges of electrifying a state like Pennsylvania.

When Pennsylvanians visit the site, they’ll learn about:

  • What energy choice really means and the impact it will have on Pennsylvanians
  • The limitations of electrification and increased costs to “electrify everything”
  • Impacts on the transportation sector and the challenge of EVs
  • Impacts on the heating sectors and the significant upside of renewable fuels

What’s Next

This is just the first step in the process. In the coming weeks and months, we will be rolling out our Dealer Toolkit of materials and collateral that you can use to message to your customers. These tools will make it easy for you to carry these critical messages to your customers, engage with them about these issues, drive them to the website and when the time is right, enlist them to reach out to legislators and voice their concerns about specific legislation and regulation. We anticipate a robust consumer outreach strategy during the 2025 – 2026 state legislative session to galvanize homeowners and other stakeholders to stand up with us.

We will be providing additional information about the campaign soon and a plan to conduct a state-wide webinar in January of 2025.
