PennDOT Opens NEVI Funding for Central and Eastern PA

PennDOT has opened two additional funding rounds under Pennsylvania’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Community Charging Program. The new opportunities make $11 million available for projects in central Pennsylvania and $32 million for projects in eastern Pennsylvania.

The funding is intended to support publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations at locations such as retail businesses, travel centers, parking facilities and other community destinations. Local transportation planning agencies have identified priority areas within each region, but proposals may be submitted for any publicly accessible location in an eligible county.

Applications for both the Central and Eastern Region funding rounds will be accepted through March 12, 2027.

PennDOT’s Western Region funding opportunity also remains open, with $25 million available for projects. Western Region applications must be submitted through the eGrants system by 5:00 p.m. on November 20, 2026. The Southeastern Region application period closed on August 25, with awards expected to be announced in November.

Businesses interested in hosting charging equipment or partnering with a charging station developer or operator may complete PennDOT’s NEVI Interested Organizations Survey. Responses are included in a public directory intended to connect potential project partners.

PennDOT reports that Pennsylvania now has 50 operational NEVI-funded charging stations. Additional information, including regional eligibility maps, application materials and program resources, is available on the PennDOT Community Charging webpage. Members may also review PennDOT’s announcements for the Central Region and Eastern Region.
