May 3-9 Is Hurricane Preparedness Week
Yes, that is correct, we need to prepare to handle hurricane disasters on top of the COVID-19 pandemic. May 3-9 is designed by the National Hurricane Center as Hurricane Preparedness Week.
Hurricane Season begins June 1 and extends to November 30.
All the major forecasting organizations have predicted that 2020 will be an above average hurricane season, with between 7-11 hurricanes this season (7 is average), including up to four major hurricanes.
The Hurricane Center asks that we should prepare for hurricane season. We should determine our personal hurricane risk, whether we live in a hurricane evacuation zone, and if we need to renew or update insurance policies.
We should also make a list of items to replenish or create our hurricane emergency supplies and we can start thinking about how we will prepare our homes for the coming hurricane season.
