LIHEAP Introduces Clean & Tune Pilot Program For Heating Systems

Over the past few years, subgrantees and members of the LIHEAP Advisory Committee (the PPA holds and appointed member seat on this committee) have suggested that a clean and tune program for LIHEAP Crisis clients would be helpful to help clients maintain their new or repaired heating systems and decrease the number of return customers.

Recently, the federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding to Pennsylvania has provided an opportunity for PA to pilot this suggestion.

DCED is proposing to run this LIHEAP Clean and Tune Pilot from September 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

Any funds which are not committed for use in the Clean and Tune Program as of July 1, 2022 must be utilized for LIHEAP standard weatherization to be completed by September 30, 2022.

Budget modifications will be required to adjust funds. Data collected over the course of this pilot will be used to determine the continuation and effectiveness of this PA Weatherization Assistance Program(WAP) LIHEAP Clean and Tune Program.
