FMCSA Extends Regional Emergency Declaration Waiver For Heating Fuels Until March 8

FMCSA has just extended the Regional Emergency Declaration waiver which provides motor carriers and drivers with direct assistance in supporting emergency relief efforts transporting heating fuel, including propane, natural gas, and heating oil, into the Affected States with emergency relief from 49 CFR § 395.3, maximum driving time for property-carrying vehicles.

This waiver was originally issued on January 7, 2022 and was set to expire on February 6, 2022. The waiver is now extended until March 8, 2022. The current waiver covers 42 states including Pennsylvania.

The PPA previously confirmed with our state partners that this version of the federal waiver covers both interstate and intrastate travel within the Commonwealth. The PPA recommends drivers have a copy of the waiver in their vehicle while using the exemption.
