Federal Energy Package Still In Play For Year-End Congressional Action

Chairman of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), is attempting to attach her landmark legislation, the American Energy Innovation Act (AEIA) (S.2657) and its House companion (H.R. 4447), to a final year-end COVID relief/omnibus funding legislation package.

The Energy Act of 2020 would authorize $35.2 billion in energy efficiency, renewables, nuclear, carbon capture, direct air capture, grid modernization, and would provide for various Department of Energy (DOE) reforms. There are also discussions of including possible energy tax incentive provisions in a final package.
