Court Extends Deadline to File Claims in Debit Fee Class Action Suit

Last week, the PPA reminded members to submit their claim for a share of the $5.5 billion VISA/MasterCard debit fee class action lawsuit. The lawsuit is about claims that merchants paid excessive fees to accept Visa and Mastercard cards because Visa and Mastercard, individually, and together with their respective member banks, violated the antitrust laws.

In an Order dated May 14, 2024, the Court granted an extension of the claims-filing deadline in the debit fee class action lawsuit against Visa and Mastercard. The deadline to submit claims is now August 30, 2024.
