Supporting the Heating Fuels Industry
One out of every five homes in Pennsylvania relies on deliverable heating fuels as their primary heat source. PPA members deliver the heating oil and propane needed to keep you warm and comfortable throughout the year. The association works hard to support this important industry through a variety of methods, including the advancement of renewable liquid fuel, membership training, government relationships, and consumer awareness.
GET INVOLVED
Promoting the Advancement of Renewable Liquid Fuels
Our industry continues to evolve by adopting a pathway for cleaner heating fuels. In 2020 that state of Pennsylvania adopted an ultra-low sulfur heating oil (ULSHO) standard. This product produces significantly fewer emissions, it burns cleaner in heating systems, and best of all, required no modifications for consumers. More information the ULSHO transition can be found here.
Heating fuel marketers are also delivering higher blends of Bioheat® fuel throughout the Commonwealth. Bioheat® fuel is an ultra-low carbon liquid heating fuel that is doing its part for our environment. It produces significantly fewer greenhouse gas emissions because it is made with net-zero carbon biodiesel. Biodiesel comes from renewable resources, is nontoxic, biodegradable, and promotes better air quality. Similar to ULSHO, Bioheat® is a “drop in product” that can be utilized by consumers without any significant changes to their heating system.
The Pennsylvania Petroleum Association is committed to supporting a decarbonization strategy that transitions the current heating oil supply pool to higher blends of renewable liquid fuels.
Supporting Heating Fuel Employee Training
The Pennsylvania Petroleum Association Technical Education Center (PPATEC) offers training programs to certify heating fuel industry employees requiring National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA) certification, Certified Employee Training Program (CETP) qualifications, and Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) training. You can even work with our training experts to create a custom class for your company that meets specialized needs.
Representing Petroleum Marketers
The Pennsylvania Petroleum Association is a not-for-profit trade association representing independent petroleum marketers at both the wholesale and retail levels. This includes advocating for the best interests of heating fuel marketers within our state legislature and regulatory agencies.
